My Side of the Trail
May brought the full range of mountain moods—sunshine one minute, snow the next. We squeezed in two rafting trips between the weather swings, and one of them was a first for Otis! Sharing the river with him for the first time was such a sweet moment—cold splashes, wide eyes, and all.
To dodge a snowy weekend, we spent a few cozy days at a charming Airbnb in Grand Junction while Stephen was working out there. A change of scenery and a break from deicing the car was just what we needed.
Back at home, garden season has officially started. I’ve been harvesting green onions that I planted years ago (they just keep coming back!) and watching fresh pea and radish sprouts slowly stretch toward the sun.
In the kitchen, I’ve been playing with new recipes, and this Grilled Zucchini Salad has been a standout. It’s fresh, flavorful, and makes the best wrap leftovers—definitely a keeper.
I’ve also been busy subbing at Summit County Libraries as they ramp up for their summer reading program. It’s always fun to see the energy and excitement build as the season kicks off.
New Products in My Shop
I have started to print a bunch of new items in order to get ready for summer markets! These new gems are currently available in my shop!
What’s on the Workbench
I wrapped up the Hula Hen illustration I mentioned last month—feathers, florals, and a little Hawaiian flair. It turned out to be one of those pieces that just makes me smile.
I’m currently deep into a large commissioned piece that maps out visits to U.S. National Parks, complete with dates and memories tied to each location. It’s part art, part travel story, and I’ve really enjoyed weaving it all together.
I've been able to do a lot of design work for Summit County Libraries as well. I just put together their summer reading program guide for the summer and am working on illustrating a design for their new staff t-shirt that will incorporate the three different branches.
Meanwhile, I’m pushing to finish up my Homegrown Whimsy watercolor collection. This series has been a joyful project—bright, lighthearted pieces inspired by garden life, kitchen windowsills, and everyday beauty. Any thoughts on how I can wrap up this series with one or two more illustrations?
I’m also reaching out to some gift shops in Colorado’s charming mountain towns to explore wholesale opportunities. If you’re a shop owner (or know one) who might be interested in carrying my work, I’d love to connect!
Thanks for tuning into my new newsletter! I’m going to do by best to send monthly updates with my market schedule, stories from home, and new products available to purchase. In the meantime feel free to hit me up for wholesale inquiries or commissions!
